About the directory

Why this directory exists

Find a Security Consultant is an independent security consultant directory for schools, employers, healthcare teams and attorneys. When a school board, a hospital or an HR team needs a security consultant, the search is often harder than it should be. General search results mix in alarm companies, guard services and product sellers, and it is rarely clear who works in your state.

Search the security consultant directory by specialty and state
Compare security consultant profiles side by side
Contact a security consultant directly

Find a Security Consultant was built to fix that. It is a security consultant directory for one thing only: independent security consultants. People who give advice, assess risk, train staff, testify and plan. Not people trying to sell you equipment.

Who uses it

  • School districts and private schools planning safety assessments, drills or threat assessment teams
  • Companies and HR teams dealing with workplace violence concerns, terminations or travel risk
  • Attorneys looking for expert witnesses in premises liability and negligent security cases
  • Healthcare facilities working on patient, staff and visitor safety
  • Business owners, executives and families who need protection planning or a physical security review

What we do differently

You can search by specialty and by state at the same time. You can describe a project once and let matching consultants reply to you. If you are not sure what kind of help you need, our situation helper suggests a specialty and the listed consultants who fit best.

Profiles go deeper than contact details. Consultants can share case studies, speaking topics, books, media appearances, expert witness experience and a short intro video. That gives you a real sense of who they are before you reach out.

How listings are ranked

We keep this simple and open. Search results are shown in this order:

  • Premium listings
  • Featured listings
  • Verified listings
  • All other listings

Inside each group, profiles are sorted by how complete they are. A consultant who has filled in their credentials, case studies and service areas will appear above one who has not. Paying for a plan changes your group. It does not buy a Verified badge.

What Verified means

Consultants who want the Verified badge send us their credential numbers and a professional reference. The site admin reviews them by hand. When a profile is approved, it shows the date it was verified. You can read more on the verification page.

Verified is a check on credentials and references. It is not an endorsement, and it does not replace your own due diligence. Always ask for references and proof of insurance before you hire.

Your privacy, and theirs

Consultant email addresses are never shown publicly. Every message goes through a contact form. That keeps spam away from consultants and keeps your inquiry between you and the person you chose to contact.

Who runs the site

Find a Security Consultant is built and run by Imtiaz Ahmed, founder of Design Fly 24, a New York web design and SEO agency that works with consultants and security experts.

Working with security professionals on their own websites showed us the same problem from both sides. Buyers could not find the right people. Good consultants were hard to find online. This directory is our answer to both.

Every listing includes a link to Design Fly 24 for consultants who want help with their own website. The offer is simple: we design your new homepage first, completely free. If you love it, we build the rest. If not, you owe nothing.

Why a security consultant directory helps buyers

Most people only hire a security consultant a few times in their career. They do not know which credentials matter, what a fair scope looks like or how to compare two proposals. A focused security consultant directory removes a lot of that guesswork. Every profile follows the same layout, so you can compare specialties, service areas, certifications and real project examples side by side.

It also saves time. Instead of calling five firms to find out that three of them only sell cameras, you start with a list of independent advisors who match your need and your state. You contact them directly, and there is no fee for buyers.

What a good listing shows

  • The specialties the consultant actually practices, such as school safety, workplace violence prevention or CPTED
  • The states they serve and whether they travel
  • Certifications like CPP, PSP or PCI, and any state licenses
  • Case studies, speaking topics and expert witness experience
  • A private contact form, so you can ask a question before you commit

How consultants benefit from the security consultant directory

For independent consultants, being found is often the hardest part of the job. Many are excellent at their work but have a small website and little time for marketing. A listing gives them a professional profile that is built to rank for the searches buyers already make, such as a specialty plus a state.

A basic listing is free. Consultants who want to appear first can choose a yearly Featured or Premium plan, and anyone can apply for the Verified badge at no cost. Paying never buys a badge, and that keeps the results honest for buyers.

Common questions about the security consultant directory

Is the security consultant directory free to use?

Yes. Searching, reading profiles, contacting consultants and sending a request for proposals are all free for buyers. Consultants can also create a basic listing at no cost.

How do I know a consultant is qualified?

Look for the Verified badge, which means we have reviewed the consultant’s credentials and heard back from a professional reference. Then read their case studies and ask for references of your own. Our guide to hiring a security consultant walks through the full process.

Does the security consultant directory cover my state?

Consultants from all fifty states can join the security consultant directory, and new profiles are added as they are reviewed. Many consultants also work remotely or travel, so it is worth searching by specialty first and then checking the states each profile serves. If nobody fits yet, send a free request so matching consultants can see it.

Can I list my consulting practice?

Yes, if you are an independent security consultant who gives advice rather than selling products. Create your free listing in a few minutes, and we will review it before it goes live.

How is this different from a general business directory?

A general directory lists every company that mentions security, from locksmiths to camera installers. A dedicated security consultant directory lists only advisors, organizes them by the problems they solve and shows the details that matter when you hire, such as credentials, methods and past projects.
