Not sure what kind of consultant you need?

Describe what is going on in plain words. We will suggest the right specialty and consultants who may fit.

Your description is used only to suggest consultants. Please do not include names or private details.

What to write

Plain language works best. You do not need any security terms. A few examples:

  • “We are a private school in Georgia and our board wants an outside review of our safety plans before next fall.”
  • “An employee was let go and has been sending threatening messages to staff. We are in Illinois.”
  • “I am an attorney with a negligent security case involving an apartment complex parking lot in Florida.”
  • “Our clinic has had several incidents with aggressive visitors in the waiting room.”
  • “Our CEO is starting to get unwanted attention online and travels often.”

Please do not include names, addresses or other private details. A general description is enough to point you in the right direction.

A quick guide to the specialties

  • School Safety: assessments, emergency plans, drills, threat assessment teams and staff training for schools.
  • Workplace Violence Prevention: policies, threat assessment, high risk terminations and staff training.
  • Executive Protection: protection planning for executives, public figures and families, including travel.
  • Physical Security Assessments: a close look at your buildings, access control, lighting, cameras and procedures.
  • Healthcare Security: safety for hospitals, clinics and care facilities, including workplace violence in care settings.
  • Expert Witness: opinions, reports and testimony for legal cases, often about premises security.
  • CPTED: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, using layout, lighting and landscaping to reduce crime.
  • Emergency Management: emergency plans, continuity planning, exercises and recovery.
  • Cybersecurity: protecting systems and data, and how digital risk connects to physical risk.
  • Investigations: workplace investigations, background research and fact finding.
  • Training: active threat response, calming tense situations and awareness training for staff.

Tips for choosing a security consultant

  • Match the specialty to the problem. A consultant who excels at executive protection may not be the right fit for a school district.
  • Look for relevant experience. Case studies that resemble your project matter more than a long list of services.
  • Check credentials. Board certifications from ASIS International, such as the CPP or PSP, and the Verified badge are useful signals.
  • Ask about independence. An independent consultant does not earn commissions on the products they recommend.
